Thursday was warm and sunny. We didn't get the rain that was predicted for us. Gene Parks has recently returned from South Texas and brought back a bunch of grapefruit. He said it got its name because it grew in bunches like grapes This particular bunch has nice grapefruit. Somehow we have always throught they grew individually like an apple, orange, peach, etc. The bunch of grapefruit is in the Bulletin office, take a look at it. By a voice vote the U.S. Senate passed House Congressional Resolution 290, echoing last week's action in the House. This resolution reaffirms the, “full faith and credit” of the United States behind deposits in federally insured financial institutions up to the $100 000 insurance limit. This covers commercial banks and savings & loan institutions. The Spartanburg Herald recently had an article on Holmberg Electronics Corporation and its recent 24,000 square feet plant expansion at its plant at Inman. Singing Saturday For Blackwell Family The Tryon Second Baptist Singing will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Mill Spring Elementary School in order to help with medical expenses for the Michaelle Blackwell family. Singers will be The Kennedy Family, The Lower Lights Trio, The Pruette and Price Families, the Coopers Gap Quartet and The Wilson Family. Interested In A Scholarship? Car Fire The Tryon Volunteer Fire Department was called to an automobile fire at Stone’s Throw Wednesday. Minor damage was done to the Ford LTD. Resigns As Town Manager Charles B. Lott Town Manager Charles B. Lott submitted his resignation to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners of the Town of Tryon in a Special Meeting Wednesday, March 24th. Mr Lott has accepted the position of City Manager of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina effective April 26. Mr. Lott has been the Town Manager of Tryon since 1974^ Prior to coming to Tryon he served as the Assistan City Manager of Plant City. Florida. Mr Lott holds a Bache or s Degree in Political Science from Wale Forest University and a Master's Degree in Public Administration and Economics from North Carohna SUte University in Raleigh- V 0 , University e Munlcipa i Softball Tourney Fri., Sat. and Sun. The Tri-County Softball Early Bird Tournament will be held at Harmon Field March 26, 27, and 28.
